Herban Essence utilizes plant-based and other naturally occurring ingredients to create our products. We use raw or minimally processed butters, cold-pressed and unrefined oils, and pure essential oils. We always strive to use as many certified organic ingredients as possible and it’s important to us that these are sourced not only from reputable suppliers who provide high-quality materials, but also that these suppliers practice sustainability and support fair trade.
In addition to certified organic ingredients, you’ll also find some wildcrafted herbs used in our creations. These are responsibly harvested from the wild in chemical-free areas. Only plants that grow widespread are gathered. Herbs such as dandelion, violet, chickweed, and plantain are all common weeds and considered a nuisance, yet they possess many beneficial properties as food and medicine and make wonderful additions to our products. We do not harvest rare or protected plants, always step lightly, never take selfishly and are always grateful for what nature provides.
While most of our ingredients are certified organic and wildcrafted, we use a few homegrown, chemical-free ingredients as well. You can find the petals from our homegrown peonies in peony soft lip balm.
What we don’t use:
Petrolatum, parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, chemical dyes, mineral oil, or lanolin.
Our goal is to always formulate safe and effective products, free from toxins, utilizing what occurs in nature and never taking for granted that just because something is from nature or considered natural that it is always safe. It is our job to know the difference and to utilize these gifts properly and with intention.
